On tagging
[edit]Tags are there to attract other editors to work on articles. They are not badges of shame. If you're working on the article then feel free to remove the tags once the issues therein have been resolved. Until then, removing the tags is unconstructive. That article is sorely in need of wider attention right now, and adding cleanup tags facilitates that. As for the edit summary, what I can be "bothered" doing at any given moment is not the concern of other editors, nor is it to be judged. I generally go back to articles I've tagged to fix them myself at some point. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 10:53, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
RD: Internet protocols and filesharing
[edit]First off, thanks for your reply at RD. I've responded there and would be delighted to hear you further opinion on the matter. --87.79.84.132 (talk) 12:07, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

Illustrator
[edit]Show me one - just one place where I stated "never try Illustrator." You are an absolute liar. Your complaint is nothing more than sour grapes because you based your previous argument on ignorance and now want to piss and moan about it. Grow up and comment again when you have something positive to say. There are enough crybabies on the net. We don't need more around here. -- kainaw™ 16:39, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
- Just because you remove my warning doesn't mean you didn't edit my comment and tried to cover up your failings. And stop vandalising my talk page without valid rationale (have you even read WP:NPA?). --antilivedT | C | G 10:17, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- I'll let your trolling slide this time. I don't really care if you call me a "disgrace" or not. I'm not insecure (like some people -- wink, wink), so I don't take personal attacks from anonymous people seriously. I just thought it was kind of pathetic that you would give me a warning template at the same time you were violating WP:NPA. Shouldn't you know what WP:NPA is after editing here for over four years?
- WP:NPA: "What is considered to be a personal attack?" "Accusations about personal behavior that lack evidence. Serious accusations require serious evidence. "
- You've violated a fundamental rule on Wikipedia talk pages and the reference desk, that you do NOT edit other people's post, and you've been caught red handed by edit history. It is a very dishonourable act, you should be ashamed for it (which is exactly what wt:disgrace means). Don't start wikilawyering before you even know what the rule actually says. --antilivedT | C | G 21:26, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- By the way, people buy illustrations from me that I make inside Adobe Illustrator. Has any one bought any of your Inkscape "masterpieces"?--Drknkn (talk) 10:47, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. See the logo at the beginning of the splash page here. Once again, you make an argument based on complete ignorance. Are you retarded or do you just not have the ability to learn from past mistakes? -- kainaw™ 14:33, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- No. I have an IQ of 131. What's yours?
- Wow. Someone paid you for that? It looks like something you made in Microsoft Paint.--Drknkn (talk) 22:51, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- Also, I can link to some of my work, if you promise not to try to harrass me or my customers in real life. You are a huge troll and I feel sorry for your family, and I'm not sure how good your word is, but I can take a chance if you promise me.--Drknkn (talk) 23:08, 23 December 2009 (UTC)
- I know how good your word is. You are a proven liar. -- kainaw™ 01:47, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- Your personality is disgusting, Kainaw. Someone should take your kids away from you (if you have any). Ironically, you just lied. I did not lie once in any of my posts.--Drknkn (talk) 02:00, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- In case it is too hard for you to scroll up...
- Show me one - just one place where I stated "never try Illustrator." You are an absolute liar.
- If you actually had an IQ of 131, you would understand that stating that I said "never try Illustrator" is a lie. -- kainaw™ 02:07, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- A lie (according to Merriam Webster's Third New International Dictionary of the English Language, Unabdriged) is "an assertion of something known or believed by the speaker to be untrue." You said that you "suggest using [Inkscape] for the entire SVG development." So, although those were not your exact words, I never placed them in quotes. Therefore, my statement was true, because I was paraphrasing you. Even if my statement were untrue, I was not trying to misrepresent you. So, it's not an issue of stupidity or lying on my part. The problem in this case is that I understand what English words mean, and that you do not.--Drknkn (talk) 02:15, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- That is a lie. You know that the user stated that he/she was attempting to use Inkscape for part of the process. You know that I stated that he/she could use Inkscape for the whole process. You then purposely went out of your way to state that I said "never try Illustrator." I did not mention Illustrator. The user did not mention Illustrator. Nobody mentioned Illustrator except for you. You purposely lied to start this argument. You never even asked me if I use Illustrator. You are simply piling on one lie on top of another. Hopefully you will grow up some day and realize how pathetic you appear. I've had enough your ignorance and lies. -- kainaw™ 02:24, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
Saw your fighting on the References Desk. Illustrator is a great program. I used it all the time. But please stop acting like a salesman for Adobe. There are plenty of ways to get work done. Let's get that work done instead of fighting over which tools are best. Pfly (talk) 10:15, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- People recommend Inkscape all the time on the Reference Desk, as they did in this case. And when I tried to recommend Illustrator, they flamed me really bad. There seems to be a double standard for me.--Drknkn (talk) 10:31, 24 December 2009 (UTC)
- The root of all evil is now here. Drknkn, lurker sees your history is arousing? --194.197.64.153 (talk) 20:56, 27 December 2009 (UTC)
Macros for both Windows and Ubuntu
[edit]Thank you for your offer to write a macro. There are two sets of online data I would like to copy. The first set has a menu with about 20-30 options, each option giving a different page. I would like to save the data as I think the website is likely to close soon. I may be able to do that myself quite quickly. I have tried using one or two website copiers, but they do not seem to be able to get past the menu. I just looked up the URL for you, and unfortunately the information has already disapeared from the website as I feared.
The second set has more pages and is more complicated. It requires putting together a search string. It is some on-line statistical data. I could download it manually, but it would take a long time. The size in kb for the data is not very big, but its spread out over many pages. I could write the macro myself but it would probably take a long time. The next step would be to take the data off each page and arrange the data like a spreadsheet. I would be willing to pay some beer money for your trouble for this second set if you like. Is it possible to communicate privately? Thanks. 92.29.136.128 (talk) 14:44, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. Sounds good. I can be reached at hotmail.com. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I don't get on Wikipedia that often, anymore. Thanks.--Drknkn (talk) 22:34, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
I don't know what I did, but you seem to be offended that I 'snubbed' you or something by thanking someone else for their response and not thanking you. I don't see why such hostility is necessary at a friendly reference desk. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 18:40, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- That is correct. I was offended when you seemed not to believe what I said about ampersands. Instead, you summarized what Shadowjams said (about BASH, not cmd.exe, by the way) and then thanked him instead of me. I know quite a bit about the Windows command prompt and DOS. I've read books about them.--Drknkn (talk) 20:08, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
- It's not that I didn't believe you, I just decided to clarify my question with a specific example; as I had forgotten to give one before, I thought perhaps we were both talking about different things. I'm sorry you were offended, but reference desks are really not meant to be a competition. 129.237.62.53 (talk) 22:24, 11 March 2010 (UTC) (User:Rjanag posting while logged out)
- No worries. I see that I misunderstood the situation. I'm sorry that I was rude to you.--Drknkn (talk) 23:20, 11 March 2010 (UTC)
